GEORGE HENRY SPRICK

Great Grandfather of Arthur Sprick

George Henry Sprick was born in Germany in 1801. He was married to a lady by the name of Montmann. Her first name is believed to be Maria.

They came to America in April, 1849. George was a carpenter by trade. James Polk was President of the U.S.A.

Emil Sprick has a document which tells he was 39 years and 4 months, 5 feet 7 inches tall, red hair, red beard, blue eyes and a large nose when he entered this country.

They purchased 40 acres of land close to Lyon, Missouri, for $50. There they established their home. He and his wife and family lived there all their life.

It is interesting to note that the farm he established has always remained in the Sprick family up until this time of 1975. It was farmed by one of each of the past five generations.   First George, his son Wilhelm, his son Herman, his son Emil, and now his son Marvin and family live there.

George is buried on his farm that he established and his wife is buried at Port Hudson Cemetery.
