John Klingsick was born April 22, 1868, the son of Johan Heinrich Klingsick and his wife Charlotta nee Beins.

John was born in Washington, Missouri. The area was known as Goose Town. It was located south of Fifth Street and St. Francis Hospital.

He grew to young manhood and attended the Lutheran School under the direction of Pastor F. Kleist and was confirmed at Immanuel Church which his father helped establish.

Later he moved to a farm in the Port Hudson area and was married to Amelia Ohse. Amelia was born June 4, 1862.

In 1910 he bought a farm which was located on Highway 185 two miles south of Lyon and lived there until his death due to a hemorrhage on August 30, 1946. Amelia passed away at her son Fred and Adelia's home on February 7, 1928, after a heart condition.

To John and Amelia Klingsick five children were born - Clara, Fred, Emil, and Oscar. One son died in infancy and is buried in Port Hudson Lutheran Church Cemetary.
